“Drive & Listen” offers a tour throughout the world’s cities, virtually. The Turkish graduate student Erkam Seker developed the application in the beginning to deal with his homesickness for Istanbul. The app is a combination of the dashcam footage and local radio from multiple cities; the viewer floats, more or less, through a city streetscape while listening, quasi-physically, to that city’s music or news or talk radio.

The application includes sound videos from more than 50 cities worldwide, with major cities such as New York, Paris, and Seoul highlighted. The user is also able to listen to city sounds as they are featured with radio, making the whole experience lively. “Drive & Listen” has been drawing a lot of attention as a simple yet fun way of armchair traveling, especially at a time when, for real, many people’s traveling conditions might be closed.
